One Last Time

The sweetest smell surrounds me

And I feel a gentle hand caress my cheek.

I feel warm and loved and cared for

And all I can think is

How I wish this would never end.

But then I wake,

Cold, alone, surrounded by darkness.

I rub the sleep from my eyes and with each movement

The memories of my dream slip away.

Walking through the hallways that were once filled

With the same warmth of my dreams

I try not to think of you.

I try not to think of the things I miss

And how badly I long for you

To caress my cheek one last time.
