Forgiveness is a Virtue
Forgiveness is a virtue, a beacon in the night,
It softens hearts of stone and guides us toward the light.
When anger coils within, its fire burning strong,
It whispers words of peace, “Release, where you belong.”
To hold the weight of fury, to let it fill the air,
Is drinking bitter poison, a self-inflicted snare.
But grace extends a hand, so steady, firm, and sure,
Inviting us to heal, to rise, and to endure.
Control my anger, heart, though tempting is its flame,
It crumbles bridges built, it tarnishes my name.
Let patience be my shield, compassion be my sword,
For in the face of fury, let kindness be restored.
Forgiveness isn’t weakness; it takes a soul so strong
To choose a higher path, to right a deeper wrong.
The wounds may leave their scars, yet still, the spirit grows,
A garden blooms from ashes, where mercy gently sows.
So when the storms arise and anger clouds my view,
I’ll seek the quiet strength of virtue shining through.
For holding onto rage is pain without release,
But forgiveness is the promise of freedom and of peace.
