The Passenger

The misty window opens, All can now look in, All would now know what happens, And see the mans sin, Skin as cold as snow, Flaking like ash, The car hums, The man hums, The air wanders in stroking him, His hand caressing the wheel, Now everyone could see, The window revealed all, He kicks the pedal suddenly, The engine roars, Now he’s finally free… ——————————————————— I titled the poem the same as the song. For those wondering its ‘The Passenger’ by Deftones.

I gave the song a listen after reading your poem and I have to say, you did a great job emulating the feel of the song. I feel like the song could have multiple meanings depending on how you look at the lyrics, but I like the way you chose to understand them. There’s good use of imagery in the poem and I like the way you made the car and the man seem like one unified body; it created a real sense of movement and amped up the emotions in the scene. This was great!
