The Last Ray of Sunshine

My steps start to falter

They’re not used to leading

My thoughts stain my bleeding

Wrists on the altar.

I’ve sapped my own strength

Have gotten so pale

A waywardly gale

Could rip my constraints.

I hear another

Song in my weakness

Over plunging waves.

It was a song my mother

Sang me to sleep with

In my younger days.
