Write a story where the main character is dying, and nobody knows but them.
Take my ‘everything’
Eyes, bigger than my belly
So waste not, want not.
Take my ‘everything’
No dessert for me—thank you
I will pay the cheque.

I can’t exactly ‘go home’
With ‘questions, questions’

I’ve lost the meaning of life
No, I’m not depressed.

I absolutely love the simplicity of the piece, but so well writing it’s tantalising, and bursting with wonderful visual images!
The repeat of ‘Take my ‘everything’’ was the genius glue!👏🏻👏🏻

Each verse here cleverly done to hold and then ‘flip’ an image instantly. Then I had a short contemplation and read the lines in this combination: 1, 4, 7, 10–which left me with only “Take my ‘everything’”. A loud accusation? Desperate call? Indignation?
Then the next combination, a poem to itself in lines 2, 5, 8, 11:
Eyes, bigger than my belly
No dessert for me—thank you
I can’t exactly ‘go home’
I’ve lost the meaning of life.
And then the other lines:
So waste not, want not.
I will pay the cheque.
With ‘questions, questions’
No, I’m not depressed.
