STORY STARTER

Leaving

Write about a character leaving something, or someone, they love.

Again

I couldn’t move. Not one step. Not an inch. Not even an atom. A sob broke from my throat. Gashing heat gathered at my eyes. I still couldn’t move. I love my hand to wipe my tears but a gentle hand prevents me from it.

“Don’t cry, we’ll meet again,” your hazel eyes bore into mine. How can you be so calm? Calloused hands cradle my head; it’s almost as though we’re eight again. Running in the beautiful meadows of your backyard. Racing eachother, making flower crowns, catching worms and other icky animals we found.

Our memories seemed endless and I’m just letting them pass through the cracks of my palmed hands.

“I know we will,” it’s the only thing I can say. A somber smile crosses your face and its cracks my heart a little more. It’ll be far to long when we see eachother once more.

The suitcase in my hand felt so heavy at the final words.

“I love you.”
