Little Warrior Target Audiences
When it comes to my ideal target audience, there’s a few of them. The first, is children as my story is a memoir written for this age group. I hope to promote inclusivity and acceptance of children with disabilities when it comes to their able bodied peers. My memoir focuses on my personal experiences as a physically disabled person. I have Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 2 (SMA2), it’s a progressive, genetic, neuromuscular condition that causes the motor neurons and muscles to gradually die off. This idea was born out of my requests from people who have the same condition as I do. There’s a large market for a book about my disability which brings me to my second target audience; children with SMA2. By targeting them, I hope to be a role model for them as well as show them that they’re not alone.
My third audience consists of chronically ill children like myself, I was a child that was in and out of the hospital. Growing up, I didn’t have books about kids like me and it felt very lonely. So, I hope that I can change that, even if it’s just one child.
My final target audience will be the parents of children with SMA2 and/or chronic illness. I aim to be a beacon of hope for these parents and show them that their children can be happy and successful despite their challenges. I want parents to see that their children will be included and accepted by their peers.
