When I Look In The Mirror

When I look in the mirror: 14/10/2020

Everyday I wake up, I look myself in the mirror. Sometimes briefly in a blink and sometimes I stare longer.

To see how my night was.

To see how I am aging physically. Hair, skin, wrinkles...

To see how I am doing in life.

To see how much more I need to do.

To see where I came from and what has become of me.

To see how my environment has affected me.

To see how I have influenced people around me.

And not to forget to see how I am doing.

A colleague once told me “You can talk to me, I am like your mirror”. First time I realized we encounter more than one mirrors in a day. Your spouse, friend, colleague, brother, sister all are our mirrors. Just look into their eyes and their eyes will speak to you. Their eyes will reflect what your being present in their life has done to them. How they perceive you, how they see you as a friend, lover, enemy, acquaintance.

I see these mirrors everyday, from morning to dusk and I am tired to see myself in these mirrors. Before sleep my eyes stare into the darkness. No mirrors, no reflection, no reactions, absolute silence. Then I close my eyes and my mind starts rushing, reflecting the memories of the day, weeks, years. And then I get tired of all these mirrors and slip into deep sleep to escape from them all.

Next morning, I look myself in the mirror... again.
