End or begin a story with this line.
Rocketship Disaster
I held her hand tight, and I wasn’t ever letting go.
Her helmet microphone was cutting out and I could hardly hear her any more.
There had been an explosion, and all the guests, who’d paid millions to be on board the first interplanetary cruise, were now floating in space, bodies frozen and spinning for all eternity.
But not Monica. I was holding her hand as she was being sucked into the void. It had been minutes since the hull breach and I was losing strength in my grip.
It wasn’t me who let go first. It was her. The last thing I saw was her smiling at me, her eyes saying it was ok, that she’d never been as happy as she was with me, right now, and she would carry her love with her into the abyss.
My Kind of Story! I love the set up here
I write a lot of genre stuff here - thank you for the compliment!
