WRITING OBSTACLE

If you put a special mixture on your eyelids before sleep, you will dream of how you will die.

Describe what you dream the night you decide to finally do it. Remember it is a dream, so it can have surreal elements that don't make logical sense, but still have meaning.

Deep Dive

As I shut my eyes and drifted to sleep the curiosity peaked. What would I see, would it be quick and peaceful? Would it be violent and slow. The possibilities ravaged my mind as I tried to calm myself. Once I finally relaxed enough to doze off I became overly sensitive to the environment around me. That was until I realized I was no longer laying in my bed. I wasn’t even inside my house anymore. I was inside a cage of some sort. The bars were large enough to fit and arm or leg through, but not your entire body. It seemed like a strange device to keep a person in. The height of the cage was plenty high to comfortably stand up in, and although narrow you could rotate completely inside. This didn’t seem like the kind of cage you used to trap something. I quickly realized not only had the environment changed, but so had my wardrobe. The pajama pants I had been wearing were replaced with some kind of rubber suit. Sheets replaced with some sort of oxygen tank. A mask around my face and goggles covered my eyes. The sound of the heater running in my home had been replaced with the sounds of waves crashing. The soft smell of a cinnamon candle replaced with a salty stench I couldn’t place. Soon I felt myself and the cage being lifted off of the ground. Unsure of what was happening I peaked thru the bars to see what appeared to be a never ending body of water. Clear salty water began pouring into the cage as I was being lowered down. Once fully submerged my main focus became not panicking. Swimming was never a strong suit for me. Breath control was not either being a lifelong asthmatic. I quickly realized floating inside the middle of the cage was the most comfortable. After floating there for a few minutes I mustered the courage to look out of the bars again. What I saw shook me to the core. I not only was inside a cage under water, I had also been lowered into the middle of a feeding frenzy. What seemed like dozens of Sharks surrounded me. The beasts were annihilating what could have been hundreds or maybe thousands of small fish. I was paralyzed with fear. I had sunken down to the bottom of the cage barely able to breathe. After collecting myself I thought at least I have the cage separating me from being added to the menu. The smell of fish and blood was noticeable even through the mask and cage. This is when I realized the oxygen tank had started hissing. Quickly this became

Apparent I was running out of fresh oxygen. I had to try to figure out if there was a way to have the cage brought back to the surface. I found a small switch inside the cage labeled emergency. I assumed this switch would alert someone above that I was ready to come up. My suspicions were thankfully accurate as the feeling of being pulled up came quite quickly. What had seemed like an answered prayer swiftly turned into a nightmare. While being pulled up for what seemed like an eternity, I heard a violent ripping sound. It sounded like the cage I was inside was being torn in half. As it turns out I couldn’t have been more correct. The top of the cage was being peeled off. I could see the large outlines above me. The sharks were about to have there largest catch of the day. After the top was completely gone I knew it was only a matter of time. Thankfully it all happened fairly quickly. What started as a single bite from one restarted there feeding frenzy. I was quickly torn apart. Going from living being to a floating hue of red mist in the water. My death was not a peaceful one as many hope for. The end for me was a deep dive into the darkness with no chance of return.
