WRITING OBSTACLE
Submitted by Aster
Write from the perspective of a character that has been experimented on their entire life.
Consider how they view themselves, and how they feel about the world, after the extensive modification of their body.
No more.
Dear Alice,
I am sitting in the first library to open in a thousand years, in my hands I hold a thing called a "pastry", it is the most delicious thing I have ever eaten, I can now say, I am a freeman, no longer a slave, a machine for the labs to explore, I am my own person, my own flesh and well, not blood, oil I guess, but I am me, you tried to help me all those years ago and now I aim to help you, no more bloodshed and violence, I saw too much of that, I refuse to be another war machine to anyone else, I am a rational being and would like to be one, for once.
My body may be weird to be looked at but I will take it as my source of pride, they are not here anymore, those scientists I mean, the emperor banished those monsters from the kingdom, all prisoners were freed from the labs, pardoned royally, my crime from ages past is not important anymore, and I feel freer then any man could ever be, you asked me what I would do out of the lab, well, I am at the library for a reason, I aim to become a lawyer, I want to protect new criminals from being unjustly charged, no more deaths for stealing bread, no more enslavement for being unable to pay taxes, I aim to change these laws, little by little, I shall stand proof of the last injustice ever committed in our kingdom.
From your oldest friend, Lucianus Abricus.
