Let the bugs bury me

beneath the love of a redwood tree

Let the mushrooms trace the creases of my skin

Let the moss swaddle me

and wrap my aching limbs in warmth

Let the birds clean flesh from my weary bones

Let flowers sprout from the whites of my eyes

Let ferns braid my hair

Let ivy weave it’s way within my brain

growing a verdant peace

Let nettle cross my lips

Let the maggots make me whole again

Let my legs become logs

for the worms to home

Let the deer eat from grass i gave my life for

Let the bears settle me into dirt with heavy steps

Let birdsong sing me to sleep

Let me be cradled by my mother

and remade in her image
