Running To Freedom
I regained consciousness after a long nap against a tree. The sky had become a watercolor painting with purples, pinks, oranges, and yellows blended together. It was morning when I first arrived.
I’d made my escape from the chains of home, ventured to something greater. Having no clues as to what this thing may be, I let chance take me where it desired. Anything beat having to take care of five younger siblings while you yourself are neglected.
And so I stood, energy surged through my legs. My bones and muscles needed movement. So I ran as far as the wind would take me, as far and the horizon went. Freedom danced through me. Thoughts of a new future took my hand and pulled me forward.
I would keep running even if it killed me.
For it’s all I can do in this complicated world.
