War With Yourself
Close your eyes and enter your mind, what is in the human mind you might ask, all of the stuff you love, puppies and family and friends, or is it flowing with great ideas for life, love, writing, art; you never really know until you’ve been there. As you begin your trip into your mind just know that once you know how to get in, it’s hard to stay out.
After a long mental journey, you approach a single door that says ‘your mind, your thoughts, your brain, your soul. With a mix of emotions to finally get there, unsure whether or not to open the door, something compels you to go forward. You open the door, horrified. What you see is tiny people in your brain fighting over ideas, going to war with yourself. You want to stop the chaos but you can’t without getting involved. You look around trying desperately to find something besides fighting, and you find it. In a tiny chest, locked up has the writing, love, life, ideas, and fun. You think ‘is this all I have, a tiny chest surrounded by the chaos?’ You run out and slam the door shut. However you look behind you, back at the door, desperate to know if the fighting has stoped, if the chest got bigger, you open the door again. And notice that the war has gotten bigger, and the chest has gotten smaller you run out again and repeat the process until the war has taken over your entire brain and the chest has disappeared. You turn behind to escape and the door slams shut. You run to try and open it, but it’s locked, and you have a feeling that the key was in the chest. Devastated, you’re locked in the never ending war, no way out.
