POEM STARTER
Write a poem that could be titled ‘Cloudy’.
Whether you stick with weather imagery, or explore emotive ideas, try and keep this title in mind as you write.
Cloudy Time
Precious days off, priceless free time
I see you clear as day
Bags of energy under bright blue skies
Endless opportunity
I wake on that morning and pause
Let me lie in, cause I can
Except now I’ve lain ‘too late’, it’s almost midday
And here begins the decline
Shower feels rushed and the dog needs fed
Should have washed my hair the night before
Now I’m catching up on tasks and need to run to shops, walk the dog, wash the floors
It’s 3pm, forgot to have lunch.
Just grab something on the go.
My ‘day off’ for ‘chill’ progresses like any other weekday.
No leisurely lunch.
Passion project another chore.
I ‘should’
I’ll ‘just’
I’d ‘better’
I ‘must’
‘Relax’ becomes a task to tick off
Blue skies and the clear mind I predicted for productivity, gets lost to the fog.
Too cloudy to concentrate. Anxiety wins another weekend.
