POEM STARTER

‘If desires are a flame, then I am a wildfire.’
Use this line to inspire a poem or short story.
A Glimpse Of Glory
Most effective when up against it
Applying the pressure early helps
Deadlines don’t worry me one bit
I move only when someone yelps
Anxiously from a burning building
Which my own indecision set alight
A precious wisdom I’m seldom wielding
Like a hurt spouse looking for a fight
Instead of a solution, self-destruction
Imploding daily, rather unnecessarily
Because I am the only real obstruction
Holding me back, quite extraordinarily
“Get out of your own way” screams potential
As it’s wasted yet again, way too carelessly
Some sort of intervention is now essential
A beautiful life cannot be lived so recklessly
Even if it all goes against my very nature
For a glimpse of glory, I’ll be my own traitor
