My first option was a clover, but as it was neither helpful, nor would it last, I decided against it. The hunger games start in three days and I still haven’t decided what my one thing to bring will be. Most of the other competitors are bringing either a photo or a mirror. Maybe its out of vanity or maybe they want to be a narcissus2.0 of sorts.

I wonder who their echo would have been.

I look over my shoulder and see the penny my fellow competitor gave me the day we were brought here. It was supposed to be good luck.

Maybe I should bring it.

I should’ve brought something from home. Something someone gave me- but if I lost it or couldn’t bring it back or- well what would they have given me anyway? A penny?

I can’t afford to lose this battle. None of my competitors can either. I’m a no name, from a no name district. The capitol is a forgotten district next to the others. Since Katniss Everdeen and President Coin started the new hunger games, the capitol has been forgotten.

I’m going to make sure it isn’t.
