Becoming Tree🍃

I felt so … alone 🍃

Detached

Disconnected

Without a purpose, unuseful

Until my first leaf started growing

Sprouting in the spring

Right on my forearm

Beautiful to see

Connecting me with everything

Rooted

Living in the city

Suited in concrete and steel

Never suited me

Glorious green leaves adorn my limbs

Veins of phloem spread under my skin

Wondrously

Enriching

Thickening

Woodening

Strengthening

Beckoning

Me

“And

Into

The Forest

I Go

To

Lose

My Mind

And Find

My Soul”

- Thanks Muir

Entering elemental

Primordial

Forest

I place my hand in the soil

Feel the cold dirt and earthy nutrients

And breathe

I hear the talking of trees on

Peter’s wood wide web

The mycorrhizal highway

Trading sugar and water

Listening to the trees

Feeding fungi, flowers, bees

The woods

Murmur

Further

My arms, branches, now growing many more

Reaching, touching, feeling, tasting

I find my place in the forest clearing

Planting my wooden legs

Thickening

Strengthening

Lengthening

Feet no more

The Ecstasy of sunlight

Kiss of water

Taste the fertile soil

Hear the worms digging

Feel Life Bursting

Leaves unfolding

Bark arms raised

Forearms green

Everything now seen

Unburdened with human’s distractions

Alive, I thrive

Water in my veins

Vessel of sunlight

Giver of shade

Grounded

Rooted

Green
