Relentless
Day after day after day,
Wake up, brush teeth, dress up,
Get ready for the day.
The agony of a day on repeat.
The curse of the hog, the groundhog.
There’s no escaping it.
There’s no reasoning with it.
There’s no bargaining.
They say the days are long but the years are short.
Who can tell the difference?
It’s all blurred now.
The same day, but not exactly.
There are some subtle differences when one pulses,
Observes more closely.
The changes in age,
The maturity with time,
The small respite with knowledge.
But it’s hard to tell,
What changes have happened
When you feel stuck,
Like sludge and mud,
Helpless, breathless, drowning,
Living like one overpowered by the hog,
The groundhog.
