I really had to give this one a thought as talking about my good qualities or achievements doesn’t come naturally to me.

Why is my story unique? I don’t think my story is unique, after all lots of werewolf stories have been written so far, so there’s nothing really new here.

However, I do feel that I included new elements to the trope despite respecting the existing ones. Perhaps I should bullet point the existing ones and the new to make reading easier.

Existing elements:

- powerful influence of the Full Moon

- uncontrollable desire to kill

- lust for virgin girls

- vulnerability to silver bullets or blades

- parallelism with normal wolf packs

New elements:

- two lineages of werewolves

- once a werewolf, always a werewolf - this means there is no returning to human shape for one of the lineages

- capability to reason and speak - I thought to myself that if a werewolf is a fusion between a man and a wolf, features from both beings should be there and not just in the physical appearance

- Norse mythology influence - ever heard of Fenrir, the terrible wolf that killed Odin?

- usage of typical werewolf folklore elements and old beliefs

- no exaggerated emphasis on the more erotic scenes - I have read werewolf books with just too much sex and I feel this leaves very little space for the plot. I want to focus on other elements.

There is some Anne Rice influence here as I’ve written in a previous prompt. My main character, Luvinus, shares resemblances with Louis from Interview with the Vampire. His relationship with his alpha, Shorath, could be compared to the relationship between Louis and Lestat, his maker.

There is a message in my story too: no matter what or who you are, you can always choose to keep your humanity rather than giving in to evil. Luvinus is tempted countless times, he’s at the verge of giving in to the beast but eventually the human within speaks louder. Perhaps there is a bit of myself here: I still believe in humankind and in our capacity to be kind.
