WRITING OBSTACLE
Think about a book or film which you do not like. Now imagine the opposite opinion, and write about it from the perspective of someone who loves it.
Trying to deliberately switch your perspective is great practice for writing characters and stories which aren't about people like you.
The Golden Compass
I was constantly told it would be amazing and it really was.
Phillip Pullman pulled off a masterpiece—I loved Lyra. She was reckless yet endearing, a liar yet still true, and she was easy to empathize and sympathize with.
The twists were unexpected and really made me think and go back and see the clues and wonder, how in this world did I miss that?
The writing, in third person omniscient, was sincere and deep.
I honestly just loved this book!
