POEM STARTER
‘All that glitters is not gold.’
Write a poem that begins with this line. What might this common saying lead you to explore?
Pressure
All that glitters is not gold
How could you be so cold?
Your flowery bouquets of affection
Just friendly, kind deception.
You were my treasure,
My fun 5”10 pleasure
Now you’re just a painful reminder
That Shiny ✨ MUST be put through a grinder.
Tested by ice, water, wind and fire
I know. I sound a little crazy,
But now I just know better
I mean.. if it’s priceless I’m after,
aren’t diamonds made under pressure?
