Under the bright lights

Behind the cloaking curtain

I take deep breaths, in and out

I know I can do this

That this is something I’m good at

But before I step over the threshold

There are always butterflies in my belly

It’s a good feeling

Anticipating the performance with good feelings

So I am ready to stand in front of those faces

Because I know my books have made an impact
