Little Blue Butterflies

I was only about 6 years old when I died. My mother told me to get water from the well, why didn’t I listen to her? If I listened I wouldn’t have followed that little blue butterfly. No, I can’t blame my death on myself, there was no one who could know that the butterfly would lead me to my death. I just wanted to see the butterfly up close, so I followed it. The little blue butterfly was beautiful, it brought me into a whole new world in the forest, filled with willow trees and thousands of the blue butterflies. Then their wings started to change into a peaceful golden color. All but one of the butterflies turned into a gold color, I followed the lonely blue butterfly into a place I’ve never seen. The world started to dissolve around me into a empty place, where it seemed only rain existed. The wings of the butterfly caught my eye, and I ran towards it. After a minute of chasing the butterfly, I realized, how is it flying in this heavy rain? It looked as if the water went right through the wings, but how would that be possible? That’s when I noticed the figure in the rain, he had an umbrella, and he wore a brown jacket. I couldn’t see his face, but I knew something was off. He slowly turned his head around to me, and started to take off the scarf that covered his face. He had glossy pale grey eyes that were the size of softballs, he didn’t have any skin, and was made of bone. I screamed at the top of my lungs, I cried for my mother to save me but then the skinless skeleton started to extend its hand. He reached out for my hand and I got a sense of calmness, it was something I never felt before. I grabbed his hand and everything started to fade into a black, all I could feel was that calm feeling, I was able to see calm in the black. I will forever get to feel, the calmness that surrounds me, because of that little blue butterfly.
