Jessica was the only one who said hello to the pink robot.

His sweet demeanor and light-pink color was just so appealing, and he was exactly her height. Jessica could look into his deep black eyes every morning as he held the door of the subway open for her. She even waved as it rolled away, leaving him alone on the platform.

Jessica would always watch out the window somberly as she left her friend behind day after day. A wave hello and then she’d be ushered off by her parents in hope that maybe they could snag a seat on the subway.

She always found it strange how no one else waved to her robot friend. They just walked right by him, as they did for her. Maybe it was the height, or maybe because neither of them didn’t attract too much attention. Perhaps it’s because everyone else is too busy staring down at their laps.

But Jessica made she she waved to the pink robot everyday.

Just in case he needed to be recognized.
