The scene opens with your protagnoist paddling hard down the river, desperately trying to outrun their pursuers.
Salvation
Iām panting now. Iāve been running through the forest, over roots and under branches. The woods are so thick, I canāt even see the sky. Finally, I reach the border of the woods. What? A river? Now what? Iām being pursued by a man, dressed in all black. I donāt know who he is, but heās fast and gaining speed.
The wind is blowing my hair and Iām looking for a way across the river. I can swim, but the currant is moving too fast. Iād be sucked down and drowned. Iām sweating, not from heat, but from fear. I catch a glimpse of him behind me and I search around more frantically. I see what looks to be a row boat. I run over to it and sure enough, itās a boat. Itās old and rugged, but it should work! I feel temporary relief. I give it a shove but itās stuck.
I gasp as I hear the leaves move right behind me. Heās there. I shove, harder this time and the boat shoots out into the water, leaving me behind. Without another thought, I jump into the water.
Cold. Fast. Iām sucked under. Iām going to drown. This is my last day. I may not get another breath. Where will I go afterward? Heaven? Hell? What have I done with my life? Jesus! Help me! I feel myself fly into the air. I grab another breath and then and sucked back down. Wait? What was that my head just bumped? I tear through the surface and grab hold of the boat. Lifting myself in, I flop, causing the boat to sink a little more. But Iām safe. Thankyou Jesus!! I look behind and see the man, still on the surface, anger on his face. He hoped I had drowned. But I didnāt. Jesus saved me. I was safe. I am going to live a longer life. Today isnāt my day to die.
The Bible says in Jeremiah 33:3:
āCall unto me and I will answer theeā¦ā
If you need God today people, call on him. You donāt know when you will die. Where is your eternal destination?
