I looked down at Yuro, my cat, with teary eyes. I crouch down, then cup Yuro’s Toney face with my hands. “Oh.. Yuro.. Yuro, I’m so sorry..” I begin, my voice shaky. “I promise, I’ll come back for you..” I continue, though uncertainty leaks in my voice. I press my forehead against Yuros’, and then plant a gentle kiss. I let go of Yuro’s fuzzy head and stand up, letting a tear fall right next to my foot. I wipe another tear and look ahead of me. “I’ll miss you..” I whisper, then take a step over Yuro. Before walking through the illuminating portal, I look back at Yuro’s droopy face, as if he understands what’s happening. I stare into his eyes, my own silently apologizing. “Let’s go! We don’t have time!” A voice from the other side of the portal yells. Im ripped out of my thoughts and hesitantly jump into it, though when I come out I have no memory of Yuro, all those years of caring for him have gone.
