POEM STARTER
If wishes fell like rain, then certainly I am a storm.
Write a poem with this as the opening or closing line.
I Am The Storm
In a hopeful heart where wishes in the night vanish without a trace,
Each one a shooting star I continue to embrace,
Each one that’s unfulfilled darkness takes it’s place,
Yet night after night I continue falling on knees to pray,
As I wander through fields of hope while sweet nothings fill the air,
As dark clouds fill my mind with dreams I long and wish to share,
Yet with each one that remains unfulfilled is a trap that continues to ensnare,
My hopes and dreams are shattered, my mind beyond repair,
Then one night beneath the moon cast over by the shade,
Wish after wish I whispered wishing they would stay,
Yet one by one they began to blossom only to decay,
Yearnings and aspirations beneath a sky of painted grey,
If wishes feel like rain, let the clouds rip open and let them hit the ground,
Let them fall upon my skin with the love that’s all around,
As soft as a sigh the first drops did fall,
As I picked myself up off the ground and stood there proud and tall,
With each raindrop a wish both the big one and the small,
Collecting into puddles each one a splash of awe,
In the rain the storm grew immensely from clouds dark and vast,
Shadows loomed upon my soul for every wish I had ever cast,
My joy turned to sorrow, a mocking of memories past,
For raindrops turned to tears that bled from my eyes into the grass,
The wishes turned into flames leaving nothing but a hole,
Leaving my heart in a pile of ashes a destiny of sorrow,
A storm began to rage within as I sat there and pondered,
Though wishes can heal the soul but they can also leave it squandered,
Then deep in the night a sound that cracked like lightening,
Into my chest both a fright and a blessing,
For the storm can make you quick to anger or show you the beauty in all that’s unseen,
My heart began to race, with the earth shaking from the thunder,
My insides just a reflection for the storm is only a mirror,
With tightly sealed eyes I reached inside to embrace this overwhelming downpour,
Both long lasting and quickly passing a moment caught in a metaphor,
A symphony loud as rain and tears poured down like a waterfall,
A melody of longing for the peace I can’t recall,
Raging underneath the skin it’s anything but comfortable,
For every missed wish is a note of hope for the prayerful,
A chance to break or find the strength that lies within you,
As clouds depart the sun does rises on the horizon blue,
In between the tears of cloudbursts lies a moment that is true,
By embracing both the night and sun reveals a calmness forever new,
For the beauty of the roses can’t shine without their thorns,
For in the raging waters lies whispers that transform and,
If wishes feel like rain, then certainly I am the storm!!
