POEM STARTER
Write a poem about geese flying south for the winter.
Could their migration be a metaphor for something?
Fleeing
One fall day Arnold went insane
Watching the geese migrating home
He went to his garage
Put together pieces of wood and
Screws buttons bones feathers fluff
Used chewing gum to keep it together
Tied bits of leather to keep it on his back.
-what is this, his wife said. Arnold said
- I’m done with this world. I am flying away
with the geese.
And so he climbed up on the roof
Took flight
Leaving a trail of fallen parts and chewing gum
And was never seen again.
