Dining Intervention
âSheesh, things are not going too wellâ Elizabeth thinks to herself. Yes, just keep smiling and nodding, the story about your dogâs gynecological problems is definitely not what I want to be listening to while waiting for my pasta carbonara. When is this going to end? Maybe I can quickly text Carol to give me a quick call with an emergency? Anything to get out of here.â âOh really, Bob I am so sorry to hear that, what did the third veterinary consult say?â As, Elizabeth tries not to roll her eyes in disgust. âOh excuse me, waiter may I have another glass of of wine?â âThank you so muchâ.
âThen Mandy said I wasnât getting the promotion, until I blackmailed her with the photos she took with Robert, from accounting, in the copy room..â Karen states to Steven as he gestures the waiter over for another drink, âAnother Jack on the rocks, please and make it a double.â âAs you wish sirâ, as the waiter walks back to the bar. Sometimes, I wonder why I say okay to these blind dates. This is the last time, I am having Mark, from sales, hook me up with anybody.
Luckily, the waiter serves the two tables their entrees and Elizabeth and Steven have a moment of silence from their prospective dates. Elizabeth and Steven have only a brief moment to plan their exits or this is going to be a long night for the both of them.
Then by some miracle a âRingâ is made to Bobâs cell phone, âOh excuse me, I have to take this itâs the vet calling!â âWhat sheâs hemorrhaging again!!â He gets up from the table and takes the call outside.
A few moments later, a âPing!â.. âPing, ping pingâ is heard from Karenâs cell phone. She looks down and sees the chain of texts, itâs from Mandy. âOMG! Robert has posted the photos to âCheaters!â and Mandy is in tears. Karen shares with Steven. âI am so sorry, Stephan, I have to goâ as she starts gathering all her belongings. âRain check on dessert?â âSure!â as Steven quietly smiles after she leaves, with relief.
The waiter slowly walks over to Steven, âAhem, would you like some dessert, Sir?â â I can give you an extra spoonâ as Steven finally looks up and glances at the lovely lady over at the adjacent table. âIf you donât mind Sir, I do not believe her companion will be returning tonight!â The waiter then gave Steven a wink and off he went.
The waiter came back around to check on his tables and saw Steven had left without paying his bill. He turns around and sees Steven talking to Elizabeth and sharing a piece of pie. With that he just turned and walked away, but not before he grabbed his cell phone from his back pocket and turned it off. The last thing I thought I saw was the names Mandy and Dr. John Smith, veterinarian.
