The ghastly shadows surrounded them. Croaks of all colors sounded in the darkness. Fledge worried that Buzzy would not be able to keep up if she flew far and fast so she stayed by Buzzy’s side.

“What should we do?!,” asked Buzzy, clearly panicked. “I don’t know!,” stammered Fledge. The birds stood there shaking together as the sounds grew louder and louder around them.

Finally, Fledge yelled, “Fly… now!!” Buzzy struggled to keep up, but the birds escaped into the ink-black darkness. They called to one another with their sing song voices so as to not lose each other.
