COMPETITION PROMPT
Write a poem on the theme of 'Lost and found'.
Innocent Victim
A box full of 'Me'...
I shove my hand in blindly.
"That's a stupid idea," Chimes Sanity
I feel something soft,
Something very hard...
"That's what she said."
Hope cracks a joke, laugh echoing in my head.
My fingertips freeze icy cold,
It's a memory of snow, it's very old...
"I'll be 'very old' by the time you get to the point."
I ignore Hope, always the impatient one.
A memory of soft summer grass,
Of Dad's booming laugh,
A memory of sand beneath my feet so rough...
"Ok, you've had your fun. That's enough."
My Heart demands desperately,
But it's too late,
I've already found the root memory...
_I'm twenty years old,_
_And I'm drowning in grief,_
_My Heart is being dragged across the coral reef._
_My heart is _**_breaking_**_,_
_Hope is sick, he's dying,_
_Sanity is gone, she's been missing..._
_Ah, there she is, Innocence._
_She's small, like a child,_
_My Heart's suffering is reeking havoc, it's wild._
_Innocence is caught in the middle,_
_Trapped, so scared, too little._
_I scream at her to 'Hide until it's safe'..._
I suppose this was her best hiding place,
The Lost and found box in my mind.
Hope whistles, always a wise-ass, always so clever,
"You just played the best hide n' seek game, _ever_."
Sanity wacks him on the head,
Silently thanking God that Hope is not dead.
My Heart takes Innocence back into her arms,
Safe from damage, safe from harm.
Innocence laughs, a lovely sweet sound.
Because Innocence lost, can always be found.
