WRITING OBSTACLE
Inspired by Kail Cleo
The days of the week are based on real people's character traits. Describe a day of the week through a character.
For example, Monday might be depressed, while Friday might love partying!
Father’s Assessment
At midnight each night they switch shifts, a passing moment of relinquishing duty to the next, and resting as the next six days take responsibility. I watch over them all and keep them in check. All seven of them look up to me and respect me, hence the name they’ve bestowed upon me- _Father_ Time. I’ve come to know each of their souls well through their endless shuffle of obligation under my direction.
Sunday begins each week with courage. He’s strong and wise, well-mannered and sensible. If anyone were to be my apprentice, it would be Sunday. He is the symbol of beginnings, of preparedness and stoicism.
Monday, on the other hand, is scattered and disorganized. He hustles around inefficiently, always armed with planners and calendars, yet he is somehow the least productive. A caffeine addict with so much to do, yet so little accomplishment.
Tuesday is impressionable, to say the least. He idolizes Monday, straining with every ounce of his being to be as busy and stressed as the proceeding day- a shame really. He has so much potential, but he’s swallowed up by the chaos surrounding him.
Which leads me to Wednesday, who unfortunately is rather pathetic. Always disheveled and exhausted. Never once has Wednesday appeared rested. His face is always fatigued with permanent purple shadows under his eyes. Few things are ever accomplished over the course of his stint- laziness oozes from his being almost as much as Thursday radiates aspiration.
Thursday motivates the rest of the days with encouraging words and relentless hope for better things to come. He looks to Friday and Saturday with affection, to the point of overshadowing himself. I wish he would find the beauty and worth in himself instead of throwing his time away each week, making way for his successors.
Friday and Saturday are twins- I’m sure they would combine their separate shifts into one long, reckless and incautious bender of booze and socialization if I allowed it. Not a single worry ever graces their mind and they often leave Sunday to clean up their mess.
I love them all in their own ways, strengths and flaws alike. I do wonder however, if over the course of eternity they will unify and strengthen to become one fluid system, with each day as focused and optimistic as the next.
