One long Night
One long night
New to love, the smell of your hat had me in a trance.
Walking those cold streets. Meeting in front of the keys night after night to be with you just one more time, a once nostalgic memory.
Making footprints in the snow, comparing our feet.
Cracking yourself open with stories of your life, good and bad.
Dreaming of not only our life but a routine.
Those little moments that made me weep hoping I’d always have you when we grew old and weak.
A child’s love is pure, raw. Unhinged from reality.
An irresponsible love, punishing and pricking.
You matured but your love didn’t.
Your love turned to poison entrapping in its embrace.
An unjust crime without punishment.
Substance all too common, blindfolding to your “love.”
Music tainted, rocks desecrated.
Bittersweet recollection.
Oh how small the world feels now,
A putrid smell of a childhood wasted.
