seasons
in the darkest of days, the night will wane,
and green will shoot from icy snow,
lying in wait under a wintery scene,
spring has gathered deep below.
racing vines bud and bloom
emitting fragrance upon the breeze
calling forth laborious pollinators,
whose work soon turns to summer seed
warmer weather brings rainy showers
mixed and muddled with sunnier days,
the beauty of flowers becomes bountiful fruit,
and harvest time is underway
drier air and waning light,
leaves fall in a fit of glory,
decaying matter defends the roots
of trees cycling through another story.
