Cafeteria Proposal
There was no rain, no dramatic music in the background, just the hushed whispers of the cafeteria’s hungry onlookers. It had started as a dare, a cute little game with my friends, but as I stood there, my heart racing, it was anything but “fun”. I could feel my face burn as I struggled to form the words.
“I know we haven’t talked much, but I felt a… spark,” My voice slowed down and wavered with each word. “And I think you’re cute…”
I wanted to stop right there. I should’ve. The dare had been simple: profess my love to this random ass guy in front of everyone. But as I continued I realized that I wasn’t really lying.
“Will you go out with me?” I finally blurted out, my face flushed I’m sure I looked like a fucking tomato.
He didn’t respond immediately, and the silence seemed to stretch for an eternity. Then, he smirked, it grossed me out. To make matters worse, he held up a single finger and shook it, as if I was a fucking dog.
“No”
He sounded like the most pettiest shithead, maybe he did this as payback for the fries I throw at his back when he’s not looking but this was the point where I wanted to murder him.
But the bell rang. Goddamnit.
