WRITING OBSTACLE
Write a multi-POV story from the perspective of three different people across the globe looking at the same thing.
What could they all be looking at and how might they percieve it differently?
As The World Ends
Ahmed had no clue what had just happened. All he knew is the loudest bang woke him from sleep ar 3AM.
“Oh, it’s just the cat getting into shit,” he thought as he attempted to go back to sleep.
“But what if it wasn’t… What if the bombs are dropping closer? Can I get out without getting hurt.”
Fear washed over him and felt faint. The worry of family dying from bomb strikes is a constant worry. These aren’t acts of God, especially not the one he had faith in. His hope was to be able to get to his mother and sister before next week, but he is stuck in a small bunker under the city. Ahmed found shelter after getting separated from his family. His father was struck by debris in front of Ahmed. His father begging him to continue, he had a decision to make, would he continue or lie down with him.
Kevin keeps his eyes glued on the news. Watching the right wing and mostly the most furthest left you can find on basic television. He is concerned of the world. What will be left for him and whatever family he planned to have. Will there be any left if every person hates the other? All Kevin can feel is anger towards the government.
“When did people become target practice? Is it their skin or just brewing hatred that drives this tyranny of bullshit… I thought life began at conception or some bullshit we are fed.”
Kevin, for one, was not a man to sit quietly. He loved what he was told about the people around him and the country he grew to care for and his community he adored. This wasn’t it, though. Maybe he was blind to things when he was younger, or maybe the world simply believes it is now totally normal to spit on the existence of a soul.
Riley lays her head on her desk, constantly waiting for her Dad to call from overseas. She doesn’t hear from him often and the terror of never knowing how he is doing or even where he really is can make the strongest person feel like giving up. If her Dad can fight, so can she. But god, she hopes she didn’t have to…
As the bell rang, she ran out to the hallway quickly when her phone began to vibrate.
“Oh. I don’t know this number” as she declined it. Little did she know it was going to be the last voicemail she will hear from her father. When the lieutenant got off rotation, he came back to barracks to call Riley to say he was coming home soon. Eager with excitement, he calls. Only to capture the last bit of life before a rouge bomb drop fell, depleting any life force in the barracks.
Broken. Terrified.
