The yearning for freedom

Runs through our veins

Like Dr. Angelou said

The caged bird sings

Because he yearns

To taste the freedom

The free bird

Takes for granted

The free bird watches

From the comfort of his nest

Unsure why the caged bird sings

Because he won't acknowledge the bars

The caged bird is at the whims

Of those who claim to love him

While the free bird can soar

And feast as he pleases

Us free birds need to hear

The complaints of our caged brethren

And do what we can to let them free
