Our Last Sunset
“Tonight will be our last sunset. You will never see me again.” Lilly said in a sigh.
The sky was shimmering different layers of colors as the two humans sat near each other on a cliff in front of a lake.
Lilly looked at her best friend Ben “I’m sorry it has to be this way…if I could change anything I would… but there’s nothing I can do.”
Ben didn’t respond and just stared at the sunset while the glow of sky lightened up his face.
“Oh cmonnnn say something… it’s not my fault this is happening.” Lilly said quietly not sure if Ben heard or not.
The area was quiet with light chirping by the trees. It was awkward silence for 2 minutes before Ben started talking. “I know it’s not your fault that You have to move… I’m just never going to see my best friend again…”
Ben through a rock into the lake and stood up from where he sat.
“Where are You going” Lilly said nervously and standing up not knowing what else to do.
Ben looked at Lilly with out saying anything and walked away in silence. Leaving Lilly all alone by the sunset, she just stood there staring at the sky.
“What’s this?…” she whispered as she saw a paper right beside her. Picking up the paper she read out loud, “Dear Lilly, this is Ben.. I know we must go our separate ways. I’m sad it has to be this way so here’s a note. I wasn’t planning on saying goodbye so I don’t know if I ended up saying it or not but just know that we will meet again… so it’s not good bye.”
