“Do people stare at me…?”
“Stare how?” Kurt feels Maddi’s large, empty eye sockets pierce his soul. It’s a feeling he’ll never get over. Not even in the 10 years he’s known her. His heart skips a little beat.
“…Any way.” Kurt thinks for a moment and feels his cheeks warming up. Even though she’s blind, he dips his head and avoids her haunting gaze.
“…W-Well, you’re a very pretty woman.” He stammers. He’s right. Despite her gaping holes in her face and gruesome scars, she’s stunning. A narrow face and sharp chin. Her full, lightly shaded lips. Her hooked nose. Her thick, blonde brows. Her long, flowing blonde hair. The freckles scattered across her face. Her rosey cheeks. Her fair skin. She’s gorgeous.
“…I am?” She asks softly, dipping her head along with Kurt. He glances away and clears his throat. He debates whether he’s having a heart attack from the palpitations in his chest.
Kurt swallows. He thinks he’ll be sick.
“Yes.” Yes.
Maddi contemplates this idea of being beautiful.
What an odd couple. A hot head and a man as patient as Jesus.
A cynic and a optimist.
A blind woman who will never know how beautiful she is, and a seeing man who is constantly reminded of the monster he is.
Sometimes… just sometimes… Kurt wonders if the only reason Maddi stayed so long is because she will never know the horrific creature he is.
Sun and moon.
Devil and an angel.
