Most people feel like they don’t fit in at some point in their life, but Layne never stops feeling that way.

From the day Layne’s parents found her near a mysterious and magical river as a baby, they knew that there was nothing normal about her.

One day after Layne accidentally attacks someone at school, she finds out that she is actually a vampire! Layne is told that she must leave home to attend Batwing High, a special boarding school for vampires, where hopefully she will learn about who she really is.

At school, Layne finds herself having to work harder than any other student just to get through each day. Not only because she doesn’t know the rules and she’s the uncool girl who was raised by humans, but also because she must defend herself from mysterious attackers who are after Layne’s magical necklace that was with her when her parents found her.

After finding several messages written in blood, secret passages under the school, and random attacks on Layne’s friends, Layne has no idea who she can trust anymore.
