Knowledge Was The Goal
The choice was between college or love, experiences in which your parents neither had.
When you wholeheartedly believe you are in love, it's hard to think straight. It's the sensation that this is a psychedelic dream and nothing matters except meaningful partnerships; it makes you wonder if it's worth it all.
Pulling you was a different kind of passion, a domain that was strange and yet highly sought after. Books, studying, being tested. Plenty of days not well-rested, but you cannot deny there was something indubitably alluring in the academics.
Timing is a bitch, and opportunities are hard to come by. But in the pursuit of knowledge, you simply didn’t choose right.
Now you know that the best things in life are not for show, and most of us are not lucky enough to get a complete education.
How far did love take you, though? As you sit alone writing a poem because you valued someone you thought was home.
