The Messenger And The Storm

Dear S.K.H,

I know you are very busy, but the matter at hand is most important. The matter we discussed earlier, will not take place. We have been discovered. I hope this letter will find you in time. I pray to Askelli that we may meet another time.

The rain beat down on the man. He knew he needed to get this letter to his master, but it would be futile to keep going. He moved to the side of the road and made camp.

He never saw the young girl, as she stepped out of the undergrowth. She hit him on the head with her heavy dagger and sent him sprawling. When he woke up, both the letter and the girl were gone.

A woman scowled at the clock. Her messenger should have arrived with the confirmation letter. Nevertheless she would continue on.

She went to the place her and her unknown accomplice had designated, only to be met by a troubling sight. A few armed guards were grouped together.

She assumed from how they were acting that they were looking for something. She tried to slip between the alleyways, but they spotted her.

She never knew about the letter, not until she was sent to the gallows for her crimes. There she saw her treacherous companion staring up at her, regret in his heart broken eyes.
