I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings
I know why the caged bird sings.
It sings to call for help.
It sings to call other birds to it’s cage.
I know why the caged bird sings.
It sings to see if it could be released.
It sings to annoy the capturers.
I know why the caged bird sings.
It sings because it loves to sing.
It sings because it enjoys singing.
I watch the caged bird sing.
I feel bad for the caged bird.
When the capturers aren’t looking, I release the singing bird.
Now the bird doesn’t want to leave me.
Why you ask?
Because I knew why the caged bird was singing.
And now?
Well, we’re best friends.
And she’s always by my side.
Just by that one kind deed.
“Isn’t that right Mia?” I say.
She responds: “Tweet Tweet.”
And I smile.
