Hated Love

“I do NOT like her! That’s disgusting,” Jesse quickly snapped back at her friend.

“You definitely do.”

“No! I’m not gay, that’s disgusting.”

“GIRLS,” The teacher quickly yelled at them from across the room, giving them a piercing glare.

Jesse’s friend fell silent, and the air got thick and cold.

“You really think that?” Her friend whispered.

“Of course I do! You taught me that!”

“When I was younger and didn’t know any better!”

The two started to bicker back and forth quietly. Jesse didn’t understand what was actually wrong with being gay, but it was what she was taught. Her friend knew this, and persisted to get Jesse to know it too.

“Liking the same gender isn’t gross, Jesse!”

“Is to!”

“How?”

“Because-

Because,

Because…”

“Because what?”

“I don’t know.”

Immediately her friend fell back into her seat in triumph.

“And you totally like Kayla.”

“I don’t! Seriously!”

“Your right, your right, I’ll give you some time to arrange the marriage.”

“What the hell! We aren’t even together!”

“Yet.”

Just then Kayla walked into the room. Jesse stared at her in awe. Her friend quickly nudged her shoulder.

“Don’t like her you say?”

“Oh please. She’s just, really cool.”

“And your soon to be wife!” Her friend teased.

“Can you drop it!”

Her friend giggles sinisterly as Kayla walked over.

“Hey Jesse,” Kayla spoke.

“Hello,” Jesse stuttered. It was like she was tripping on her feet but only in her mind.

“Do you know anything about math?” She asked.

“Yea tons!” Jesse responded.

“Great, you wouldn’t mind being a tutor for me would you?”

“No, of course not!”

“Thanks, meet me at my house, 8pm.”

“That’s a bit late,”

“I know.”

Jesse stared at her as she walked away, and quickly glanced down to the written address on a piece of paper.

“You got a date! I told you soon to be wife!” Her friend urged.

“Look we barley know each other! I doubt it’s a date, and especially not a wedding!” Jesse shouted, a bit too loud.

“JESSE, NICKSON,” The teacher screamed.

“Sorry miss,” The two girls said in unison.

Kayla also heard Jesse, and giggled to herself silently.
