One Look

One look. Just across the room. And there he is. I swear he’s the only person on earth that actually suits a mullet.

The bell rings and stand up from my seat just like the rest of the class. I turn to leave.

“Hey, Elsie. Right? It’s Elsie right?”

“Y-Yeah” I stutter, turning around and realising who it is.

“George Cooper at your service” he offers his hand.

I nod awkwardly, shaking his hand and acting as if I didn’t know that before.

“Do you mind helping me with the homework?”

“The algebra?”

“Yeah. I suck at it”

“Me too to be honest”

“We can suck at it together” I chuckle.

“Yeah, I guess we can”

We walk out of the room side by side, my heart fluttering.

“You play football, right?”

“Yeah, my dad’s the coach”

“Thought so”

“You should try out for cheerleader,” he waved his hands around. “Then you can do this”

“Wow, so talented” I say sarcastically

“I’m serious”

“Not my thing”

“Too bad,” he walks over to the sign up sheet on the wall and writes my name down. He turns back around and grins.

“George Cooper, you’re dead”

“Call me Georgie”

“Fine then, Georgie Cooper, you’re dead”

“And you’re a soon to be cheerleader” he winks at me before walking away.

My mind tries to comprehend what just happened as my cheeks turn pink. Wow.

This is what I’m planning to be like one of their first meetings, tell me what you think.
