Aleiant And Tarum

After the Great War, everything about Aleiant changed. Free of Vale’s oppressive hand, an ease set over the people. Mostly. Distrust between the races was still high. The fae didn’t trust the witches not to bring their belongings to life. The witches didn’t trust the fae not to enchant them. The elves retreated into the mountains, and the pack didn’t trust anyone but Pack. The humans were happy to be free, but jumpy about the magical tension.

They needed each other though. The fae produced much of the food, as they could coax any plant to live and bloom no matter the season. The witches produced all the power for and currents all needed for their tech and comfort. The weres were built for security and transports. Grudgingly, the elves were peacekeepers, since their magic could nullify both witch and fae magic, and craftsman. The humans were capable of bridging the gaps and finding amenable compromises.

Each race created their own governing body. The government of Aleiant, The Cabinet, only serving to broker deals will other countries. After a lot of clashing and disagreements, each of the three provinces established a government of their own, The Committees, to manage conflicts between races and regulate a standard set of laws for all.

Over the course of a couple centuries, tensions eased and the races lost some of their fear and hesitation. The common people couldn’t afford the grudges, and were much more willing to partner with, help, and mingle with everyone else. Even 400 years later, the upper class still segregated themselves as much as they could. Now more of pride than fear. They had finally settled into a rhythm acceptable to all, most of the time, and things ran smoothly.

Tarum took a different approach to being free of Vale. They saw the freedom as a chance to build bridges among the races. They constructed vast cities full of color and wonderment. They focused on creating shared cultures and celebrating differences.

Each of the provinces has one leader, elected by all, and the four governors worked together to manage the country as a whole. They valued their freedom and their newfound lives they refused to every go back to the fear and tension. Tarum created a military and defense systems. Trained hard and well, they held the confidence of all people to stop any such way of life from returning.
