POEM STARTER
Woodlands
Write a poem set in a forest.
Sunlight Shines Through The Leaves
Trees cast shadows in the forest
Still, the sunlight shines through the leaves
And the path remains brightly lit
So I take a step forward
Trees cover the forest in shadows
The sunlight barely makes it through
And the path is dimly lit
But I take a step forward anyway
Trees fill the forest with shadows
The sunlight struggles to be seen
And the path is barely visible
So I don’t step forward
Trees drown the forest in darkness
The sunlight can no longer break through
And the path can no longer be seen
But I step forward
Stumbling down the path
Tripping over roots
My face hits the forest floor
Smashing into twigs and rocks
Eventually it starts to bleed
But I don’t quite care
I get up and keep going
Dirt mixing with the blood
I know I should stop
Put on a bandaid
To let the wounds heal
But I don’t quite care
Trees give way to a clearing
The sunlight shines bright
And the path branches out
But I’m too scared to step forward
So I retreat into the dark
