The Holocaust
They told us we’ll be safe
They said we would not die
They said they would not hurt us
We’re the apple of Hitler’s eye
Soon they took away my hair
And drew all over my skin
I feel that my life is over
“Help me” I am so thin
Can you see the number on my skin?
Near enough the amount of times I’ve been beaten
Hours, weeks, months have passed
And I still haven’t eaten
Please take a look at me
Just look at my face
Why does it seem to matter so much
That I’m not part of the Aryan race.
Thank the Lord! The time has come
I’m going for a shower
How long am I going to live?
A month, a year, an hour?
It’s happened now my time is up
Many years were fun
Maybe I’ll see you again
My life here... is done.
