COMPETITION PROMPT

Water, fire, earth, and air. What would the four elements say if they could speak to each other?

Include as many or as few elements as you wish.

Elemental Nomenclature

As Fire was raging from within, he thought with a burning desire

“How I wish I had the tranquility of water.

With her cool aqua blues and nourishing composition of oxygen and hydrogen.

Without her presence, all life would end.”

Meanwhile, Aqua was feeling quite blue.

She frowned as the humans retreated inside while a storm slew.

Rain outpouring as a symbol of her sadness

She thought of Fire’s warmth and became envious.

Fire who could take raw ingredients and transform them into sustenance

Aqua thought how her water’s features had none of his.

Let’s not forget Windsor with his gusty breathing

Who feared people thought of him as always deceiving

Since he cannot stay set in one place,

blowing through life at a rapid pace

That most others don’t understand or care to compete

They prefer to keep stationary, firm under their feet.

Which reminded Windsor of his fortuitous foe,

Landson was firm and steady while wind can only blow

Landson, the earth, made of soil and dust

May seem simple from the outside, but there are many layers to his crust

He knows that it takes patience, time and stability

To develop confidence in one’s abilities

He called upon his elemental friends –

    Water, Fire and Wind

And shared a story old as a time that’s been buried deep within

So Landson did begin,

“As Master watched his creatures with care

He couldn’t help but marvel and stare

While all uniquely different in their strengths and provisions

The symbiosis amongst these elements was always His vision

For when we unite together, and graciously bestow others our gifts

While embracing differences and learning from one another, instead of having tifts

Is the message He always wanted the humans to share

So first came Elements, which He created intelligently, purposely, and with pristine care.”

So my elemental brethren, I cannot exist without your presence

You build me up, make me better, and I hope you cherish this lesson.

While mistakes and mishaps occur, knowing we will always stumble,
When we work together - as originally designed - we will never crumble.”

So the next time you see a phenomenon in nature

Think of the lessons learned in Elemental Nomenclature
